I have sat in countless meeting rooms and around many board tables where the slides and strategies all made sense, but something still felt off. There was always plenty of information. What was missing, more often than not, was the willingness to close the accountability gap between the aspirations, what had been committed to and what needed to be done. And having the courage to ask the difficult questions and take a more disciplined approach to guiding these outcomes.

For over three decades, I have lived in that gap as a practitioner, not a leadership theorist.

My career hasn’t been spent in ivory towers, but in the trenches of ASX‑listed and private companies, boardrooms and not-for-profits. I’ve seen cultures crumble under the weight of unsupported expectations and conversely also seen them really thrive when true accountability is treated as a gift and support mechanism rather than a burden or punishment.

My lived experience is that the transition from “high performance” to “sustained excellence” isn’t found in a new framework or a software solution. It’s found in disciplined fundamentals and in the uncomfortable honesty and transparency that shows up when the board aren't in the room. This is where the real work happens.

Today, my mission is to bridge that gap for others.
